Project Details

Project: Interactive Educational Games

Service: Gamification

Client: UNFPA Uganda

Playhouse designed and implemented a suite of interactive educational games for UNFPA Uganda and Naguru Teenage Centre to support youth engagement on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality, youth empowerment, and population-related development issues. The games were developed as participatory learning tools to simplify complex concepts, address harmful myths and misconceptions, and promote informed decision-making among adolescents and young people.

Game Objectives

  1. Roll & Hop
  2. Main Objective:
To educate young people on puberty, life challenges, and decision-making by simulating real-life economic, social, and health-related scenarios. The game aims to build awareness on myths, resilience, financial literacy, and access to youth-friendly services.

  3. Jigsaw Puzzle
  4. Main Objective:
To help participants understand the interconnected nature of teenage pregnancy, early marriage, gender-based violence, FGM, and access to health and education by assembling visual pieces into a holistic picture. The game promotes critical thinking and advocacy for youth rights.

  5. Giant Murals
  6. Main Objective:
To use visual storytelling to highlight challenges faced by adolescents and young people, including early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and GBV. The murals aim to spark dialogue, empathy, and community action for youth protection.

  7. Word Hunt
  8. Main Objective:
To reinforce key UNFPA and youth development messaging through a word discovery activity. The game builds familiarity with concepts such as gender equality, SRHR, rights, empowerment, and population development in a fun and accessible way.

  9. Buzzer Game
  10. Main Objective:
To test knowledge and stimulate rapid discussions on the journey of sexual and reproductive health and rights, myths, policies, and youth-friendly services. The game encourages participation and reinforces accurate information.

  11. Life Journey: Snakes & Ladders
  12. Main Objective:
To illustrate key stages in a young person’s life and how decisions, opportunities, and challenges affect education, employment, family planning, and leadership outcomes. The game promotes informed life choices and long-term planning.
